Our menus offer classic seasonal options that you know and love, but with a Gus’ Place twist. Rather than try to reinvent traditional dishes, we elevate them so they hit all of the senses. We cater for a variety of allergies and dietary preferences, and are fully licensed, stocking a variety of local beer and wine.
Gus' Story
Gus’ is an institution of the Canberra hospitality scene, with a history spanning 50 years. It was the first Canberra café to introduce outdoor dining, back in the 70s, and has played a major role in the cultural development of the city. The recent renovation features materials of the highest quality, such as brass, marble, and teak, while maintaining the venue’s classic European feel.
The famous outdoor dining area boasts large glass windows which allow sunlight to flow into the space, making it the perfect place to catch up. Our team of friendly wait staff are dedicated to providing good old-fashioned quality service, and are sure to take your order with a smile.

Please be aware that during the COVID period, due to our seating restrictions and in order to be fair on all patrons we do have a time limitation of 75 minutes for all bookings.
For all bookings, we will hold tables for a maximum of 20 minutes before the table(s) will be allocated to another booking if required. If any guest(s) arrive late, the time limit is taken from the time of the booking
